Planned Parenthood Sues to Withhold Information from Women

Statement from Center for Arizona Policy General Counsel and VP, Policy Josh Kredit

PHOENIX – “No matter where you stand on the issue of abortion, we should all agree that doctors should not be able to withhold vital information from women. Yet Planned Parenthood Arizona has decided to take the state to court to deny women crucial facts.

The more than 100 children alive today due to the Abortion Pill Reversal stand as a living testimony to the importance of SB 1318.

Women who have began a chemical abortion process and change their minds, for whatever reason, should not have their baby stolen from them because Planned Parenthood, or any abortionist, withheld potentially life-saving facts.

As legislative testimony revealed, women in Arizona have already benefited from Abortion Pill Reversal. Dr. Allan Sawyer, a Board Certified OB/GYN, recounted to a House Legislative Committee how the Glendale Planned Parenthood misinformed a woman who had taken the first of two abortion pills that there was nothing she could do to save her pregnancy. Planned Parenthood even went so far as to claim to the woman that if she didn’t take the second pill, she risked complications and even infection.

Thankfully, the woman discovered online that it may be possible to reverse the effects of a chemical abortion, but time is of the essence. She got in touch with Dr. Sawyer, and he immediately began the Abortion Pill Reversal Procedure.

Today, this woman has a healthy, ongoing pregnancy.

SB 1318 puts women first. If Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry truly care for the health and safety of the women walking into their clinics, they should immediately drop this baseless lawsuit.

It’s important to remember that this isn’t the first time the abortion industry in Arizona has challenged common sense informed consent provisions. Just like before, Center for Arizona Policy is confident the state will prevail.”
