Growing hostility toward Religious freedom directly attacks the First Amendment right to exercise one’s religion without undue interference from government. We see it in efforts to force businessmen and women to choose between their livelihoods and their deeply held beliefs. We see charities forced to violate their beliefs if they want to continue serving those in need, and churches forced to comply with more intense restrictions than other organizations and businesses during the pandemic. But we also are witnessing a pattern of U.S. Supreme Court rulings that uphold religious freedom. The latest example came in SCOTUS’ unanimous ruling in Fulton v. City of Philadelphia.
