Prayer Ministry

Now is the time to pray. Many pastors have sensed that something unique is occurring in our world and that we must be in constant prayer seeking the will of the Lord in these days. Our answers, our hope, our direction come when we spend time on our knees before the Lord. Thank you for praying.

"The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit." James 5:16-18 NASU

This Week’s Arizona Focus:

  • CAP has asked the Governor and the legislature to oppose any expansion of gambling in Arizona because of the harmful consequences of gambling on families. Pray that these leaders will join CAP and oppose any expansion of gambling in our state.
  • The focus of the legislature is still on the 2010 state budget. Pray that Governor Brewer and the legislature will come to an agreement on this budget soon.
  • The Senate continues to delay hearings on bills until the budget is resolved. Pray that CAP-supported legislation on bills relative to life, school choice, charitable work, students’ religious liberties, divorce reform, and judicial reform will not be overlooked or put on the back burner.
  • Pray that Jesse's Law, Part 2, will come before the full House for debate and passage on to the Senate. This important bill protects a patient who is unable to communicate his wishes and who does not have a health care legal directive by modifying Arizona’s laws governing when food and fluid can be withheld from a patient.

Praying for CAP

  • Praise for the early positive response to our CAP Family Dinner with Governor Mike Huckabee. Pray for continued excitement about sponsorships and for a full house on May 19th.
  • Praise Jena Grady has joined our staff as our new Administrative Support person.
  • Praise for the very successful pastor meetings in Flagstaff and Prescott. The pastors in these two communities are excited about the coming Truth Project Training and are already promoting the events to their congregations.
  • Pray the Truth Project Training sessions in Flagstaff and Prescott will draw church leaders and believers from all over northern Arizona. Pray that many Christians will gain new understanding and application of the biblical worldview.
  • Pray for the CAP Issue Briefings to be held in Flagstaff and Prescott the day before each of the Truth Project Trainings.
  • Praise for our donors and prayer partners who faithfully support the work and vision of CAP.

This Week’s Staff Focus
Brett Urig
, Legislative Aide, asks prayer that the policy team will stay healthy for the final few months of the legislative session. He also asks prayer that he would follow God’s direction for his summer plans.

Special Prayer Request

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled unanimously last Friday to legalize same-sex “marriage.” Our friends at the Iowa Family Policy Center are working to get a state constitutional amendment to the 2010 Iowa ballot. The Iowa legislature will only be meeting for two more weeks. Pray for God’s favor to be upon the Iowa FPC as they ask the Iowa House and Senate to let the people of Iowa decide the definition of marriage by voting on a constitutional amendment. Pray that no further courts will make similar radical rulings to redefine “marriage.”
