CAP-CAN Vision and Mission

In August 2005 The Center for Arizona Policy partnered with Focus on the Family to launch the CAP Community Action Network, nicknamed CAP-CAN. CAP-CAN is a pro-life, pro-family network of concerned citizens, churches, and other organizations dedicated to prayer, education, and action.

Our vision is to equip a vital and growing network of volunteers to embrace a prayerful, informed, and active role in influencing public policy and promoting timeless family values. Our goal is to equip these citizens to duplicate themselves in their communities by networking and recruiting locally through church and community groups.

CAP-CAN Strategy

Our plan is to organize and engage Christians to pray for good government, to get educated about policy issues affecting the family, and to actively apply a biblical perspective to their involvement in the political process. It is our firm belief that good policies and good government can only be secured through prayer coupled with informed and active involvement. Prayer, education, and action – it takes all three to make a difference!

Identifying CAP-CAN Liaisons at churches and other organizations is essential to building a vital and growing network. Liaisons are designated by the leadership of their organization, and serve as the key point of contact for CAP. The Liaison receives information from CAP on what’s possible, then helps to turn those possibilities into reality. Thus, Liaisons play a significant role in keeping their organizations informed and involved.

Another key role is the CAP-CAN Local Activist. Local Activists have a heart for the issues, and are able to take action in a variety of ways. Ideas for involvement include, but are not limited to: joining the CAP Prayer Ministry, responding to (and passing along) CAP Action Alerts, writing Letters to the Editor, calling/emailing elected officials, registering voters, and distributing CAP Voter’s Guides. We also encourage Local Activists to team up with the Liaisons to help with special projects and to keep leaders and members informed about issues affecting the family.

Consider getting involved in CAP-CAN! As we take the steps to get organized and make ourselves available, we believe the Lord can use this network to ignite a fresh spirit of prayer and action throughout Arizona.
