Media Ignores Homeschool Rally

Is the media accurately reporting what’s happening at the capitol?  Let’s look at two rallies last week, and let you answer that question for yourself.

The Homeschooler’s Family Day at the Capital was hosted by Arizona Families for Home Education (AFHE) last week on March 2nd.

CAP President Cathi Herrod: A Former Liberal?

Yes, you did read the title correctly.  CAP President Cathi Herrod, one of the top conservative leaders in Arizona, was once a self-proclaimed "liberal feminist."  A great spotlight article in the Arizona Guardian details what motivates Cathi and why she is so involved in this work.

Here is just a sampling of the interview with Cathi Herrod.  Make sure you click here to read the rest.

Today in the Arizona Republic, CAP received some of the most significant and positive media attention in our history. CAP & Churches Join With Governor to Launch "Arizona Serves"

Today, CAP joined with Governor Jan Brewer and many church leaders to launch the website and project "Arizona Serves."  Due to the budget cuts and economic hard times in Arizona, there are many people in need of basic services. Instead of relying on the government to provide all of these services, we are encouraging churches and citizens to help those in need in their communities.

Homeschool Families Gather at Capitol

Today, supporters of homeschool education gathered at the state capitol for the Homeschool Day at the Capitol. With over 25,000 homeschooled students in Arizona and state laws that support freedom for homeschooling, Arizona is a leader in the country when it comes to homeschool education. Carol Shippy and her staff at Arizona Families for Home Education did a great job of putting on this event that brought together over 1,000 people.

Voter Guides Coming This Fall

As we do for every election year, CAP will be producing Voters Guides for the important primary and general elections in the next coming months.  These Voters Guides are a great way to learn how candidates stand on important issues that affect our families, our state, and our country.

If you could sit down for coffee with a candidate for only a few minutes, what question would you ask them?

    - What's your position on health care reform?
    - Should abortions be funded by tax dollars?

CAP Working With Others to Strengthen School Choice

As many parents are thinking about school options for their children for next fall, CAP is helping lead the charge to make sure Arizona is a place where all parents have a right and opportunity to educate their child in the manner they see fit. This year, we are working with legislators to strengthen the tax credit scholarship programs in a variety of ways.
