Our Mission
Center for Arizona Policy is a nonprofit research and education organization committed to promoting and defending the foundational values of life, marriage and family, and religious liberty.
We were established in 1995 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening Arizona families through policy and education. We accomplish this by actively educating Arizonans on issues like:
Center for Arizona Policy is one of the leading organizations in Arizona actively standing at the legislature and in the media for conservative, pro-family views on these issues.
The Center is part of a state-based family policy council network. The councils are independent entities with no corporate relationship to each other but their purpose is uniform: to serve as a voice for the family and to assist advocates for family values in recapturing the moral and intellectual high ground in the public arena.
Impact on Arizona
- Over One Hundred (100+) CAP-supported bills have been enacted into law! Our work has strengthened marriage, promoted the sanctity of life by limiting abortion and stopping attempts to bring physician-assisted suicide to our state, protected our community from gambling and pornography, allowed Bible clubs to be formed in middle schools, and expanded educational choice. - We make an impact in the media. Family Voice commentaries can be heard on radio stations throughout Arizona. We are recognized as a key organization at the state capitol and are frequently quoted in news stories dealing with pro-family and pro-life issues.
- Center for Arizona Policy assists in religious freedom issues on the local, state, and national level.
- Thousands of families receive our regular 5 Minutes for Families (formerly Family Facts - Arizona) e-mail updates on current issues affecting the family.
- Our staff speaks to thousands annually through public appearances.
- As the statewide trainer for The Truth Project, we help bring this powerful worldview curriculum to thousands of Arizonans.
- Our CAP Network equips hundreds of churches and thousands of citizens to stand for family values.
Life – Center for Arizona Policy is dedicated to the protection of human life from the time of conception to the end of natural life. We promote public policy to protect the unborn child and their mothers. In further support of life, we oppose euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, human cloning, and embryonic stem cell research.
Marriage – Center for Arizona Policy supports measures which strengthen and encourage the institution of marriage through covenant marriage, the elimination of marriage tax penalties, and measures to reduce the divorce rate. We support the Arizona Marriage Amendment and support the passage of the federal Marriage Protection Amendment, defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman.
Religious Freedom – Center for Arizona Policy supports First Amendment religious liberties for Arizonans, and defends against unconstitutional discrimination toward people of faith. We are also committed to preserving our nation’s historic dedication to public expression of religious faith.
Education – Center for Arizona Policy supports enabling parents to choose the education they deem best for their children, whether that choice is public, private, charter, online or home schools. We promote policy that assists parents in having broader education choice and limits government involvement in private and home education.
Parental Rights – Center for Arizona Policy supports the rights of parents to guide their children’s lives and to be responsible for every aspect of their care, including all health-related decisions.
Gambling – Center for Arizona Policy opposes gambling, including the state lottery, race tracks, and casino gambling, primarily due to the harmful effects legalized gambling has on the family.
Judicial Reform – Center for Arizona Policy supports efforts to reform the judicial system to provide an effective check and balance on judicial power as a means to curb judicial activism.
Pornography – Center for Arizona Policy supports regulation of sexually oriented businesses to the fullest extent possible, including time, manner and place restrictions, and supports the strongest possible laws against obscenity and child pornography.
