1. HB 2564, the Abortion Consent Act, establishes informed consent procedures for women considering abortion, fixes problems in Arizona’s parental consent law, and protects health care workers from being forced to participate in abortion against their moral and religious beliefs. It is the most significant pro-life legislation to pass in Arizona.

Talking points:
•    The Abortion Consent Act protects women, children, parents, and the civil rights of healthcare workers
•    Arizona’s abortion statutes need to be updated to remedy real-world problems.
•    The Abortion Consent Act empowers women to make informed choices and ensures that consent is meaningful for those considering abortion.

2. HB 2400 bans partial-birth abortions from being performed in Arizona.  It mirrors the federal law, making sure that this horrific procedure will not be available in Arizona.

Talking points:
•    Partial-birth abortion is a horrific procedure that most doctors agree is never medically necessary
•    The state ban is necessary to enable local prosecutors to ensure that this brutal procedure never happens in Arizona.

Today, the Senate also passed an important school choice bill, HB 2288.  These three bills passed today join two bills passed on Monday (the Students’ Religious Liberties Act and Jesse’s Law, Part 2) in awaiting the Governor’s signature to become law.  Please continue to pray for the success of these bills.
